Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you say in individual adult counseling remains between you and your therapist. When working with children and adolescents there will be occasions when parents will be provided general information about the progress of the therapy with their child or teen. Collaboration with other providers will require a release of information. There are a few limits to the confidentiality. These limits include:
Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s. The therapist must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, further measures may be taken without their permission in order to ensure their safety.
Your therapist is required by law to report or take necessary action to keep you and others safe. If you are currently experiencing these kinds of feelings or are being hurt, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Will my insurance cover my sessions?
Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
What happens if I need to cancel my session or I miss my session?
I require a minimum of 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. If you miss your session without 24 hours notice you will be charged $50.00 for the session. Payment is expected by the following session. Exceptions are made in the case of emergencies, illness or weather related issues as determined by Sara Solheim.
If four sessions are missed, Sara reserves the right to allocate the session time to other clients.
